A rare instance of a “Ye Olde” something actually living up to the name.

I learned something recently that I'm surprised I'd never heard before. The Ye in this case (used as a definite article and not as the second-person pronoun) is actually pronounced thee. Interesting way was lost letters when transitioning from Olde English.

True. The original letter was a thorn Þ pronounced like the "th" in "the".
