"They're going to do everything they can to, I believe, not sign me now."
The @Celtics' @EnesFreedom to @MargaretHoover — 24 hrs before he was reportedly traded to @HoustonRockets and waived.
He says the NBA "for sure" wants to silence him for his advocacy & #China criticism. pic.twitter.com/GCJIW2KBOE

Enes Kanter Freedom predicted it during this PBS interview three days ago. Today he was traded by the Celtics to Houston, who promptly waived him after pressure from China.
There is no place for Freedom in the NBA. Unless of course.....SLAVERY IS FREEDOM.
I love the guy. But this would have happened to him without his speaking up.
He was a solid bench player. And this is all about salary cap. I believe that the Celtics are on the hook for the remainder of his contract. This happens often in the NBA.
Nike won’t make a shoe after him or advertise to defend him.
The Democrats won’t care and this man will be buried.
I don’t keep up with sports, but I know who Enes Kantner is.
I am very happy he’s been speaking up about human rights violations in China. But it’s not surprising to hear that he’s been traded to another team. A team he apparently would prefer not to go to. When you spend a great deal of your time speaking up publicly for what some consider to be controversial causes, that is going to get noticed.
At some point, your employer may think your political image has eclipsed your athletic image. Most Team Owners of today are as ‘allergic’ to Lib Rage as Roger Goodell, and will quickly do what they think it takes to get the Lib Ragers off their backs.
As I said, I know who Enes is. I have been waiting for him to enter politics anyway. I think he is a US citizen since last year. He would make a great young Republican.
Confucios say, big man with loud mouth time on stage no more.
That Mis-Fortune Cookie line sums it all up.
First, I dont really feel bad about him because he’s now an AMERICAN CITIZEN. He would easily be deported back to the gulag with the ragheads if he were not now a proud American.
Second, he made close to $30 million his career. He’s not hurting for money. If he were working for $15 hour, and got fired, sure I would feel for the dude but he aint.
Now he’s got lots of time to tear Pedo Joe and the leftards a new a**hole and can speak freely..
$30 Million for bouncing a ball around and maybe sometimes throwing it into a basket. Must be nice.
One of my Stanford fat mates was on an NFL team for 5 years, made $12 million a year. He tore his knee right before the extension expired and went into buying properties in his state, as his second life and income. Even went back to school for the MBA.
What crap.
What is a “fat mate” ?
You’re overlooking the fact that the NBA encouraged players to do this.
They’re supposed to support black lives matter.
He’s made almost $100M.
He’ll be ok.
Don’t worry, he’ll make millions from Nike like Kaepernick. (sarc)
To hell with Branch COVIDians and any that carry their water.
Anybody who still watches the shit show known as the NBA is a huge part of the problem in our country. The NBA should be boycotted absolutely, unfortunately most of their fan base are anti-American progressive communist democrats. The NBA and their fans can go straight to hell because they’re evil.
That’s the great thing about him, he never allowed himself to be intimidated, he has always spoken freely no matter what sanctions the NBA put on their players. As we can see the NBA leadership is not about freedom and they will crush and destroy the career of anyone who speaks out about freedom and angers the communist democrat party or the CCP. We should all be supporting this guy no matter how much money he has made. The jealousy one hears in some of these posts is just pitiful. He is no the side of freedom and we all should be supporting that.
Mr. Freedom has been on Tucker Carlson at least three times.
I always assumed he was a starting player who was too good to get cut.
Just 10 months ago he had a 24 point - 30 rebound game playing for Portland, which is downright amazing.
Then, six months ago, he signed a one year minimum veteran contract ($2.7 million) with the Celtics.
Say what?
Now, he has been cut and no other teams are bidding for him.
He has been in the NBA for 12 years, so he is most likely exempt from money problems, but this is still a shock for a guy who is just 29 years old.
The C’s traded him, so they’re not the ones with the tail end of his vet minimum contract. But you’re right. His play would have got him to this point anyway.
The China-sellout NBA surely is glad to be done with him, but that just underscores the outcome he would have been facing otherwise at this point IMO.
