“Circles,” that is...
Makes me feel dizzy too.
My local outlawed cruising the drag about 1980.
Many towns have cruising laws. Ottawa, and other places, can easily pass one if that becomes a problem.
“My local outlawed cruising the drag about 1980.”
Surely not every jurisdiction has a law on the books criminalizing making numerous turns within an area.
How would tourists avoid prosecution?
Anti-cruising laws usually limit the number of times you drive down the same stretch of town within a certain time. Tourists would presumably not violate this.
YOu could arrest the majority of people in the ATL if that’s the case....driving slowly.
You don’t think local lefty governments wouldn’t pass an emergency statute, or make an executive order?
Joe Deeters (R) DA Hamilton County (Cincinnati) threatened Felony charges if traffic was adversely affected by Trucks during the Black Lives Matter protests. (The truckers were not in BLM)
But what would the emergency statute, or executive order, look like — or how would it read? “No one can drive down X Blvd. unless they have been vetted”?
Either all traffic would be closed BY Their Diktat, or it would be open to protestors.
No...... As we were discussing, it would simply be an anti-cruising ordinance. That would take care of it.
Agreed.
Probably a lesser fine, though, than coming to a dead stop on a street.
And, again, the offender could then peel off after this fine, and let another take his or her place, without towing or other charges.
It is a good idea. Keeping moving is something they can’t really do anything about.
How are they going to arrest someone in a moving vehicle?
And the cop would have had to have held up traffic to issue the anti-cruising citation.
With enough vehicles moving slowly enough, the number of times a vehicle would go down a stretch of road would be self-limiting.
See the posts above about anti-cruising laws.
Ok, I’m out of here. :)
Blocking a roadway with a stopped vehicle might be construed as a crime. And be punishable.around here, we call it the "michael collins maneuver". example: "honey, the parking lot's full; hop out and i'll michael collins until you're done"Driving around a block (slowly enough to avoid the traffic ahead of you) is not.
I did see them. That’s why I said it would be with enough vehicles.
