I’ve been out of town since last July 1. I went to get the car washed today and the price is $40! This is Sunnyvale, California. The last time I splurged on a wash (about a year ago), it was $30.
I drove out and will do it myself. Prices are utterly ridiculous all over the place.
PG&E wrote to me this week and said their natural gas prices are up 95% in one year. NINETY FIVE PERCENT.
I hope people remember their happiness when they go those “free money” $1,200 stimulus checks when they start paying $3,000 to $5,000 more a year for basic necessities. And we will be paying that forever. It’s not a “transitory” inflation spike with prices settling back to they were. These price hikes are permanent and are going to get worse.
Prices were up, I would estimate about 20-40 percent on very many items.
Luckily where I live, the shelves are not "bare" yet; however the number of items from which to select is definitely lower.
What to do?
Elect a Conservative President and Congress.
(I'm leaning toward DeSantis.)
