“Does anyone still not get why the founders excluded the children of foreigners from being President with the natural born citizen clause?”
Natural born does NOT mean “born of two citizen parents”. It is rooted in “Natural Born Subjects” - an expression of ENGLISH common law that EVERY founding father knew. Unlike SWISS law (Vattel), ENGLISH law made anyone born within the borders of a country a citizen by birth - natural born - unless the parents were ambassadors or part of an invading army (illegal aliens).
Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden are BOTH born in the USA of citizen parents and both hate the USA. My wife is an immigrant. It is illegal for her to become President, but she is a proud patriot, huge Trump fan and loathes liberals. And yes, she has noticed how many liberals are pasty white people whose parents were born in the USA...
She has no clue why so many white people hate themselves. Neither do I. But some of the most passionate patriots you could ever dream of meeting are immigrants!
We threw the English out.
The founders were using Vattel’s definition.
The children of foreigners were who the founders were excluding with the natural born citizen clause because they are not naturally Americans as they are also born something else.
John Jay to George Washington:
“Permit me to hint, whether it would be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expressly that the Command in Chief of the American army shall not be given to nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.”
The children of foreigners ARE foreigners, even if we foolishly give them citizenship.
The singularity of nationality is what the founders were requiring.
