Tell your son about the tales of Hillary Clinton. Remember the Rose Law Firm records that showed up after 2 years? Or how she removed and mishandled classified documents when she was SoS? Ask your son if he GAF then. If he’s a good little liberal, he’ll say this is different/worse. But he’d be wrong. And BTW, nothing happened to Hillary, just like nothing will happen to Trump.
Don’t forget the more than 900 FBI files Hillary “accidentally” downloaded, which were that agency’s records on members of the Senate and House. Although Hillary claimed it was accidental, they used that information to leak to the press to send a message to Rep. Henry Hyde (info that could have only come from those files), who was leading the impeachment of her husband. That was highly illegal, but best I recall she didn’t even get a slap on the wrist.
