People don't pay to install gas stations in their home garages. Tesla charges over $20,000 for an out-of-warranty battery replacement. No engine overhaul is in that ballpark.

Tesla batteries last over 500,000 miles, which is approximately over 30 years. Additionally, it means that the body of the car will deteriorate before the battery does. However, the battery will degrade over the years from 5% for the first 50,000 and 10% over 200,000 miles.
I have an EV. Battery is 16K.
No oil changes. No tune up. No transmission repairs. It may never need a brake job because of regenerative braking.
I almost never touch the brakes.
