Taiwan also very tight monitoring, etc., plus very high mitigation by populace.* Possible genetic predisposition and far fewer co-morbidities.
*Effectiveness of mitigation may be breaking down somewhat with Omicron, as in other Asian countries. Too soon to tell on fatalities, but, lower viral exposure levels in general may help a lot (infected, but less infected = less chance of serious case.)

Egypt hot and dry, young.

Israeli populace mitigates much better than we do. Plus is highly vaccinated, which still helps some, and helped a LOT during Delta.

Aussies much more locked down and compliant.

I do not rule out benefits of early / preventive treatments.

Etc.

Superficial similarities in policy may in fact not reflect at all the actual situation on the ground and behavior / characteristics of the population. Even at it’s height, mitigation by people in stores, etc., in the US, was iffy. Hideous, incompetent educational effort by CDC, most media, etc.
