The extra costs in fuel to cross at Sault or all the way around to Buffalo will cause quite the stir because shippers or receivers won't want to pay.

Especially if one is operating out of NW Indiana—it likely would double the fuel. Once one gets into eastern Ohio, Buffalo becomes more attractive, and if one is far too the west and plans, Sault, while a problem, doesn’t double fuel costs. However, I suspect that Sault will get clogged, and while one can head up to Minnesota, the Trans-Canada is a nice name for a very important two lane road until one gets well into Ontario and can’t actually handle 401/402 style volume.
