The current Egyptian government is the best we can hope for in the Islamic world.
The pragmatist in me says we need to support them.

Islam is the problem.

Al Sissi is the President.
He was installed as the result of a military coup.

It saved Egypt.
The Muslim Brotherhood was destroying it.

I wonder why Rand wants to stop the arms sales then. He usually has a reason.

Let's ban arms sales to our allies while allowing "free trade" with China.

Sometimes the libertarian inclined are just as bat--- crazy as the left.

He is generally against arms sales.

In a better world I would be too.

Libertarians want to fund the government. Ron Paul’s position is to eliminate the income tax. The government would be funded by tariffs, and they would have to rise.

Both Pauls haven't been stronger on geopolitics than most of their opponents, just making other bad choices.

See my tag line.

The consequence of eliminating the income tax, the position of libertarians, is higher tariffs for products from China

President Sisi was the head of the military when Obozo helped Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood come to power in Egypt. He refused Morsi’s orders to fire on Egyptian citizens when they demonstrated in mass against the abuses of the Muslim Brotherhood. (Islamists)

He put Morsi and over 1200 of the Muslim brotherhood leaders in prison. Morsi is dead, the Muslim Brother is crushed every time they make an appearance in Egypt.

He was elected president in a huge way.

Eypt is a poor country we have supported them with arms before. Obozo hates President Sisi, great indicator that Sisi is on the right side.

He has worked in cooperation with Israel to eliminate the Tunnels into the Gaza Strip and to crush the Islamist terrorists.

He promised to rebuild the churches that were burned or destroyed by the Muslim Brotherhood and has rebuilt many.

He does buy some weapons from the Russians, he is not fooled by the Russians.

I’m not sure what Rand Paul knows that I don’t know about the region. Generally I like Rand Paul, I also liked his father. They are not always right.

Rand Paul has embraced the Barack Obama Middle East vision...

(1) Disarm Israel.

(2) Replace all neutral or pro-American Middle East dictators with radical anti-American terrorist organizations.

“How would you want your senator to vote on this?”

Vote it down. Egypt presently has the BEST GOVERNMENT it has ever had since WW2. The president, who is a Muslim, even celebrates Christmas.

But Rand is some kind of psycho when it comes to foreign policy (other than that, I like him a lot), so I’m not surprised he’s trying to take down al-Sisi.

No one has mentioned the elephant in the room:

IRAN.

Iran is using its proxies to wage war on Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other less than bat sh*t crazy Muslim countries.

We should not only sell them arms, we should be using them as a lab to find out how to counter the cheap weaponized drones Iran uses.

After Obama’s first major wave of destruction and chaos, the Arab Spring, he helped install the wretched Muslim Brotherhood. Egypt’s economy was in a shambles, and they were heading down the path of total genocide of the Christian Copts.

The US deep state, Obama’s state department, DoD attitude was like “oh well. look what happened.” Truly evil people.

Then el-Sisi and the military conducted a coup, restored order, grew the economy - and saved the Copts and saved Egypt.

I don’t know if El-Sisi even wants overwhelming US support - but at least nots use the power of the US government to create chaos, especially under the random, fake, ever-changing woke definition of “human rights”

We could start by defining “human rights” as the right to live in a country not undergoing civil-war. How about that as a start?
