You’re only seeing a tiny slice of the moon’s orbit. The spacecraft is a little over 900,000 mi from earth, the moon is 250,000 mi, so quite a bit closer to the spacecraft than the earth is.
It is amazing to me that we have a satellite that orbits the earth that is that far away! Outside of the orbit of the moon!
