Flores third year was something of a shock, too.
From memory, Flores was 1-7 at the beginning of the 2021 season, and that was after three NFL Drafts where he acquired 8 First and Second Round players.
Also of note, Flores agreed to trade Ryan Tannehill in 2019 to Tennessee in exchange for two late round Draft picks.
Tannehill promptly said thank you and made the playoffs for three seasons in a row.
Adding insult to injury, in 2021, Tennessee and Tannehill crushed the Dolphins in a must win game for a Dolphin playoff berth.
Bottom Line...
Flores peaked at New England as a Defensive Coordinator under Bill Belichick.
Lot of guys have prospered at NE but not made the next step up with much success. Which tells me that BB must really be the man. I loved Romeo Crennel at Cleve though, he was a funny guy in press confs.
Maybe. But he's a good coach. I think he had deserved a shot at a head coaching gig somewhere else. Like Houston Texans. Norv Turner had plenty of chances. And he was not successful outside a couple of decent seasons where Philip Rivers carried the team but even there, they were eliminated early in the playoffs.
Obviously, he won't be getting an opportunity at a second chance. My guess is that the NFL will agree to a settlement. He'll shut up and disappear. Maybe he'll end up coaching somewhere like IMF Academy in Florida (private school that specializes in sports).
