Cancel the transaction through the credit card company
if that’s how the donation was given. Credit card companies
have made it easy to dispute a charge, just look up the charge online.
similarly, someone posted the following on an online forum in Australia:
...do a chargeback via the bank. You not only will get your money back but GoFundMe will have to pay an extra $15.00 per chargeback for not holding up their end of the bargain. Then take your funds and give that money to #GiveSendGo, who will get it to the truckers & the #FreedomConvoy.
Yes it’s called “charge back” and this will cost them for each one that is disputed.
Excellent idea. I would do this.
People over on patriots.win are telling those who donated, to file a chargeback with their credit card companies or banks. Apparently GoFundMe will be charged a fee for those. Someone claimed each chargeback can cost GoFundMe $29.
Is a chargeback different from cancelling the transaction?
Someone else also posted this regarding filing Arbitration against GoFundMe:
Filing a chargeback with GoFundMe is all well and good, but you can do better. File for arbitration.
Hopefully chargebacks won’t affect the organizer. I’d suggest going for the refund form to be safe.
