House Considers Impact of Continuing Resolution

Sub Committee Congressmen/women discuss road blocks to getting a full year funding bill. GOP objects to Removal of “long standing policy riders” (Hyde amendment), and inclusion of radical progressive Poison Pills. Leftist congresswoman says waiting will impact national security - brings up Ukraine.

At one point, it is mentioned the GOP may push for fours years of CRs.

The first 22 minutes are worth a look; after that, DOD officials make the predictable lament on how not passing a budget impacts specific programs.

You definitely get the feeling Progressives are holding the process hostage to their desired (but unspoken) social engineering goals

The entire “budget process” is an obscene sham and has been for as long as I’ve been alive.

Of course they are, it’s what they do.

I’m pretty sure the GOP goal is to have a CR for the rest of the year. Then take over Congress later this year and pass a better budget - and see if Biden vetoes it. Great strategy for the party out of power. This sure could have turned out worse.

Probably why so many Rats are retiring this year - writing is on the wall

“Then take over Congress later this year and pass a better budget.”

This bunch of ***clowns? Romney and McConnell will insist on the usual baseline budgeting and whatever milquetoast Republican squish ends up as Speaker will be only too happy to go along.

They’ll fiddle around the edges a bit and when the Dems howl about Republicans shoving granny off a cliff they’ll fold and give Biden everything he wants.

Then they’ll send out plaintive fundraising letters telling us that if we give them the Presidency they’ll do better.

Next time.

Promise.

Interesting take away - if a year long CR is passed, standing law requires military personnel will still get a pay raise. Money would need to come from elsewhere in the defense budget - of course they threaten to enlist fewer soldiers.

There shouldn’t be a CR and any Republican that votes for one needs to be primaried and thrown in the street.
