Sometimes these things can be the immune system forming antibodies that act like signals, binding to some receptor on a nerve and turning it on or off absolutely.
Modern medicine will probably take decades to try and figure it all out.
If it were my relative, I would try to get them to a doctor of traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM is an ancient form of medicine, in its best form combining powerful herbs they have studied for years, and acupuncture. They have identified several different broad brush ways to modify immune function, and often will look at something like this and see a way to give some herb that has anti-inflammatory or immune suppressive qualities, and get relief modern doctors just have no way of doing.
By all means, I would keep chasing specialists, you might get lucky, but I would also try TCM in addition with ideally a Chinese trained specialist, trained in herbs and acupuncture, with at least 15-20 years practicing, and hopefully with some specialty in neurological issues.
I have MS which is an immune disorder, it has been in remission for the last 6 years my neurologist told me under NO CIRCUMSTANCES to take the vax!! He is now finding he was not wrong MANY are coming down with immune neurological disorders!! I am PRAYING this will pass for your niece and does not end up being something that is long or life lasting!!
