Your penchant for civil debate is very admirable; we could use a lot more of that on this forum, as well as the obvious need for it in society as a whole. And must assuredly in the context of intellectual historical debate. Schön, Ihre Bekanntschaft zu machen
Vielen Dank Ihnen, und ich freue mich ebenfalls :-)
But with regard for all other Freepers, I think we ought to switch back to English now.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I really appreciate them :-)
Yes, I always try to do my very best in debates, whether on the Net or in real life, and I try to avoid being rude as much as I possibly can.
The sad thing about debates on the Net, fascinating as they can be, is that differences and controversies often escalate very quickly.
After all, one cannot see the other person, and since human communication depends on paralinguistic factors (tone, prosody), facial expressions and body language, anything one writes can come across as very rude or offensive, even if it was not meant to be. Misunderstandings, often fateful ones, can happen so easily...
Long speech, short sense, as we say in German: I’m always trying to keep it civil and reasonable :-)
So long :-)
