Finding a Stuttgart phone book with that name doesn't prove squat. With all the migration being encouraged in Europe today and especially after the war of English decline 70 years ago I'm sure you could find a Peabody surname in any city on the continent.

Sorry to be such an insufferable know-it-all, but by training
I’m a German historian with a focus on the Middle Ages, i.e. on a period when, among other things, the custom of having family names began in Germany (around the 13th century for the bulk of the people, for nobles roughly two centuries earlier).
Thus, I thought I could give a little input on the matter...
