Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended from ABC following her controversial comments about the Holocaust in which she said the extermination of six million Jews was not about race.
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments,” ABC News president Kim Godwin said in a statement.
“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” Godwin added. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”

Lucasfilm announced in 2021 that Carano would not appear in future Star Wars projects following a series of controversial posts she made to social media.
These included tweets in which she mocked the use of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and repeated claims of voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election.
In late 2020, Carano clashed with activists on Twitter, who criticized her lack of public support for the Black Lives Matter movement, leading some to accuse her of racism.
Weeks later, after facing calls from some fans to put her preferred gender pronouns in her Twitter profile, she added the words "beep/bop/boop". Critics interpreted this as ridicule, leading to accusations of transphobia. She later apologized and removed them, saying that Mandalorian actor Pedro Pascal had helped her understand the use of preferred pronouns.
In February 2021, Carano shared an Instagram post that compared "hating someone for their political views" to the persecution of Jews during the Holocaust and included an image taken during the Lviv pogroms. Many critics interpreted the post as comparing American conservatives to Jews in Nazi Germany.
Shortly afterward, Lucasfilm stated that Carano was no longer employed by the company, saying that "her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable".
The same day, she was dropped by United Talent Agency.
Goldberg is in idiot, but saying stupid things is her schtick. Moronic mutterings are what View viewers are paying for.
It is wrong to suspend her for doing her job.
I think I saw the same thing, but it was Ethiopia, not South Africa. Solomon married the Queen of Sheba, an Ethiopian. So the theory goes there are Hebrew descendants there, with a little cross-breeding, and also where the Ark of the Covenant ended up.

The whole thing goes bananas when looking further East.
During WWII, Germany was one of five countries involved in wiping out Jews.
However, we have been learning the USSR was doing this both before and after WWII.
That being said, I knew an Oxford historian SME in the IC, who had significant reason to believe as many as 11 million Protestant and Evangelical civilians were likely killed in Germany.
He was also Jewish Historian.
As my response above paints, the number of Jews murdered in Southeast Europe is far higher than previously known.
Her mockery from the right was no different than Goldberg's mockery from the left, or Joy Reid's or Don Lemon's. Reid's comments about white people are much worse than what Carano said about BLM, and Reid has a past history of anti-gay writings. Even Rosie O'Donnell's comments about 9/11 didn't get her fired.
When looking at others, like Roseanne Barr (fired by ABC/Disney in 2018), those attacks were personal against leaders of the left, and she was gaining popularity from the right with her new show. I might go so far as to suggest that her show was canceled out of fear that it would become a popular platform for right-wing political satire of the left during the Trump administration.
To me, Carano's comments were issue-oriented and not targeted at a specific person. Carano essentially refused to bend the knee to the left.

Some 40 million were killed by the Soviets during peacetime.
Then there's World War I. The Russian Civil War (more Russians died in the latter than the former; and the Russians lost 1.7 million soldiers in World War I). Spanish Civil War. Many other smaller wars and revolutions throughout Europe. Add in the rest of the world, and the 20th was one bloody century.
Probably several hundred million killed in the wars and revolutions of the 20th century.

Ms. Goldberg (née Caryn Johnson) cunningly chose a stage name with a Jewish sounding last name to goose her early career. The trick works. Did anyone notice the strange Jewish support for Hispanic George Zimmerman during the Trayvon Martin late-term abortion? It was the last name.
TBH I thought Goldberg was Jewish... or a spoof. Her comedic delivery reminded me of Jimmie Walker from Good Times.

The suspension is performative and meaningless. She should be kept on. Perhaps the show should be canceled, but she is just doing what the show does.
