I use an iPad almost exclusively for FR. Simple, intuitive and it works.

Isn’t typing a hassle? Or, do you use a keyboard?

I find it (iPad) cumbersome….especially if using code.

A basic Mac Mini (bring your own monitor, keyboard and mouse) is an excellent computer from $699.

The Apple Refurbished store occasionally gets them for as little as $499.

Amazon has them (used, 90 day warranty) from under $300:
