When I lived in FL, I absolutely loved these adorable creatures, and so did my husband. Long time ago, but as I recall, we put out some kind of food for them.
Squirrels are cute too, but the amount of damage they did to my house...
Some dummy released a bunch of eastern red squirrels on Vancouver Island, and they are killing off and driving out the indigenous grey squirrels. They are also raiding songbird nests and reducing that population.
I am not the least bit fond of invasive species. Think starlings.

the problem is that they are over-running areas and creating quite the problems i guess- towns will hire iguana hunters to help thin them out some they get so over-crowded
