“I wish conservatives would get with it and target Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, and Apple this way. We could easily take them down a notch or two if we actually got serious about this and war gamed about it - and then did it”

I doubt that’s possible. Once these big internet firms achieve critical mass nothing can unseat them. They develop “network effect” and advertisers won’t abandon them. Nor will enough users quit. This is a real problem for potential rivals.

“I’d love to “Spotify” Big Tech. I know I’m alone or at least, only a dozen or a few people. If we had hundreds of thousands, this would be meaningful.

The blueprint is right there in front of us. We are seeing it in real time. “

“hundreds of thousands”? There are 350 million people on the internet in this country alone. Half are conservatives. And if those around the globe who are also not happy joined in and we all boycotted the internet, we would be hitting all these crooked tech companies at one time with a HUGE statement. Shut down their supply line of power and control globally. Show them we can indeed live without their addictive drug.

“Manilow is not requesting his music off Spotify”

Just wishful thinking on my part. Lol

“You can hurt Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc. by refusing to patronize their advertisers.”

“I believe I said this. This was, I think, entirely my point. Who are their advertisers? Who is one specific advertiser? And specifically, who of their advertisers are well know for being anti-conservative?”

Not just refuse to patronize them, but organize a mass email and phone call campaign to each and all advertisers one at a time. And it doesn’t matter if they are anti-conservative or not. There are hypocritical greedy conservative companies advertising on these platforms also. Hit them too because they deserve it for being greedy and hypocritical. Time to root out the greedy turncoats who are selling their souls for a buck anyhow.

This costs money. People are paid to organize. Where is the conservative money to pay for this? Where are the wealthy backers?I know of at least 2 people who work the leftist organizing circuit with pay.

Nothing comparable on right. Yet.

“Once these big internet firms achieve critical mass nothing can unseat them.”

That is not true. The keyword in what you say is “internet”. A huge mass boycott of the whole internet for a week or two with an explanation why will wake them up. A serious statement that we can indeed live without ALL of them.

I could live through that fine to make a serious point and reclaim power over self, could you?

I don’t think Microsoft is the easy target. In fact they just spent $70 billion to buy one of the most popular gaming companies, trying to get a deep entre into the metaverse. Younger users, embedded advertising, more subscription income, and programming expertise they couldn’t attract before. Microsoft is a better target for a DoJ ordered breakup than as a target of conservatives.

It would not cost anything except planned personal pro-active effort, self control, and standing on principles. Find a target, plan a date, and hit them with a couple million emails and phone calls why you will no longer support their products and/or services.

It is free, and there is strength in numbers. But it takes actual commitment and effort in mass. I know this type of campaign absolutely does work. Back in the day we almost got Ron Paul elected President of the United States with these type of organized targeted efforts.

If the RNC had not changed the rules and cheated during the convention he would have indeed been the Republican nominee. And all it took was mass organized targeting of polls, lighting up switchboards with calls, and mass emails. It was strength in numbers and didn’t cost a dime. Just the personal effort to concentrate on one target at a time.

“OK, Ladies and Gentlemen, today’s target is... Here is the email address and phone number, you know what to do...”

And we did in mass... And it worked.

"Microsoft is a better target for a DoJ ordered breakup than as a target of conservatives."

I don't think I want the government doing my job, doing my responsibility. Our responsibility.

And I don't want to be a progressive, reliant on big government as a solution to problems. This is our problem and we can indeed fix it without them. Government only makes things worse. They don't make things better. They never make things better. Things are already bad enough as it is.

Maybe he has more of George Soroses around.

That SOB could cause major damage alone.

We have to remember the damage BIG money can do.

Occasionally worked. The left has a hoard of people who are paid by leftist organizations as well as the ones paid by your tax dollars to marshall forces

Conservatives are too pure to fight for government jobs and the power that lies there and not interested in working for groups that will fund organizing.

Paul didn’t fizzle, just like Trump he was robbed at the last minute. Trump by the left and Paul by his own party.

Were the individuals who personally volunteered to get off their rear ends and go vote for Donald Trump paid? Were the grassroots organizations paid? No, they volunteered their own time and labor to change history.

Without Volunteerism we would not have gained our independence from England, settled the west, or won WWII. We would not have Pop Warner kid’s baseball, or meals on wheels. And hundreds of successful programs where volunteers are unpaid.

One needs paid people to organize the volunteers. Lots of them like the leftists do.

I think the Spotify dropoff started well before Neil Young started bejabbering...January 12th or so...up around $237. The drop could actually be leveling out now.

Growth stocks and “pandemic” entertainment stocks have all been pounded in 2022. Spotify gets lumped in with them, weakness in SPOT isn’t specific to them. This is the same algorithm trading that is affecting anything that isn’t considered a value stock. It’s about interest rate and inflation fears, not Neil Young vs Joe Rogan.

Since you are already on the net how much does it cost you to send an email ? Or make a phone call?

All I am saying is we post a date and all do this at one time. It will cost nothing.

Just a viral date. If a YouTube video can get a few million hits we can do this without one dime spent.

We got this... We just have to actually do it.
