Yes I have had a test and it was an ordinary Q-tip. An ordinary Q-tip is not long enough to reach the deepest recesses of the nasal chamber (the nasopharynx) which is what the test requires.

My test swab was about 2” long. If one is paranoid about this then they can add their own cotton swab to their own long length of wood.
