Newt’s trade policies were severely misguided. We now understand how costly so-called “Free Trade” is. But that wasn’t my point.
The point is that they laid out a contract, and they did their best to fulfill it. They brought bills forward as promised and they voted on them. They didn’t win everything. Some bills had to be split up, but they were sincere in trying to honor the contract.
