Fwiw, that second rape charge was at a college bar. What kind of national celebrity who is engaged to be married hangs out at what’s known as an underage college bar on their birthday. Last birthday at a bar without your fiance? And the girl was tested and shown to have been raped, but somehow that still “wasn’t enough evidence”. This wasn’t the first time for him to be accused and not just another everyday run of the mill “assault” of a drunken ball player. He traveled with body guards and they know exactly what happened.
Black woman: Stacy Abrams. Oh wait, she looks more like a lineman.
Aaron Rogers would look good in Black & Gold. Sadly the Steelers are the very model of a “Woke-franchise” so I doubt it would occur to them to look at getting him.
I don’t know, but I call the guy a dumb-ass.
Ben has gaudy passing stats. But the first Superbowl win for him was mostly Jerome Bettis and that Defense. Ben was horrible.
TB12 is next.
Like I said, there's just too many intangibles for him to be HOF material. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets it though. Of the major sports leagues, only baseball's HOF is prestigious, where you have to prove you're the best of the best.
A black woman...cut he promised.
What do you mean by “intangibles”? Just list your reasons you think keeps him from the HOF. Then I’ll list all the reasons he gets in. His list of NFL records is pretty long not including his top five and top ten positions in almost every stat...
Josh Dobbs is still with them on injured reserve...not that he’s any better...
I don’t know, I’m just an armchair QB. Something about Ben doesn’t strike me as a HOF.
I thought for sure he was going to retire two or three years ago.
My impression of him in the years that I watched him was that he had size and skill, but that he had a bit of a doughy look to him, and that he liked to relax, have a good time and wasn’t into the physical conditioning end of things.
NOTE: That is my impression from afar. I know nearly nothing about him, so I could be completely wrong. Just my impression.
My other impression was he was a good quarterback.
And one of my favorite players of all time was just that kind of guy-Sonny Jurgensen!
Thanks. I didn’t know about the NDA.
I believe that’s what’s holding up the settlement with the Houston Texans QB.
All of the women that accused him of sexually assaulting them (22 or so) have agreed to a price.
But he wants the NDA from them and can’t get an agreement on that.
Thanks again, I sort of lost track of the NFL when they went woke...
Rogers would be a mistake. He’s old and expensive. Sure he’s probably got 1 or 2 more good years, but he’ll probably want a 4 year contract, then the Steelers are in the same boat they were in the last couple of years with an antique at QB and a massive cap hit if they cut him.
Problem with the baseball HOF is it’s so stats driven. I mean I know baseball loves their stats, but stats don’t define best. And of course now that they’re not letting steroid guys in, even if most of their career was before steroids were against the rules, they’re really losing the ability to claim it’s the best players, or that they’re telling the story of baseball.
Fact is Roethlisberger was a gamer. Not just in the stats but in the sheer guts. No losing seasons. 3 trips to the big dance. Lots of crazy 4th quarter drives. And just plain fun to watch. The only question to me is 1st ballot or not. Given the off the field stuff I’d say not 1st ballot.

I look at his (draft) contemporaries:
Eli Manning, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger. I assume that 1 might be left out in the cold by the HoF. Which? I figure Philip Rivers is on the outside looking in. Could they take all 3? Probably. These days they seem to. But I have 2 of them going and it’s a pick ‘em between which goes first, Eli or Ben.
I didn't think any 300 lb defensive linemen were still active in their 40's :)
Rivers probably takes the longest to get in. But he did put up amazing numbers and if he’d played for a team that didn’t suck might even have a ring. Eli gets in if only for ending the unbeaten season. Eli will go first if only for having the 2 year head start. He’s another probably not a 1st ballot guy, but 2nd or 3rd ballot at the latest.
