With their obsessive need to be perceived as nice, Republicans never play the game right.
The big news on Monday night was that Joe Biden, in response to a perfectly appropriate question from Fox News White House correspondent Steve Doocy, not only refused to answer but openly and into the mic called Doocy a “stupid son of a b****.” Biden then called Doocy, ostensibly to apologize. In fact, he didn’t apologize at all but Doocy seemed happy to be the nice guy who accepted a private non-apology in exchange for a public insult. In other words, Doocy handled the whole thing completely wrong.

My beef is with Peter Doocy. Preliminarily, I think very highly of Doocy because he’s willing to ask questions that no one else in the press room asks. (Others in the alternative media would but they’re barred from the press room.) Doocy’s not as probing as I would wish but he does push harder than anyone else and that’s definitely something.
As to this matter, though, Doocy failed completely. He shouldn’t have had a “nice call” with Biden and said that he didn’t need an apology. He did need an apology...a big one. What he should have said was, “Mr. Biden, you very publicly and crudely insulted me. I expect an equally public, explicit apology.” And that should have been the whole call, followed by daily reminders.
Game theory says that, if you’re the decent type, you first play by the rules. However, if your opponent refuses to play by the rules, and seeks to obtain an advantage through bullying and cheating, you teach him a lesson by bringing the same tactics to him, except on rocket-fueled steroids. You don’t say, “We had a nice call.”

He relies on access and The Bidet could cut that off in a minute by denying his credentials. Does anyone think the rest of the knee pad uournalists would say anything, hardly, because by him asking the somewhat edgy questions he makes them look sad by comparison.
I am awaiting the day when the deminmedia get the message this A hole is destroying their loved dem party and hold on the legislative branch. When they do, I will love it when they begin to harpoon the dope.

In my hockey playing days and coaching emphasized the ref only sees and penalizes the retaliation unless it the foul on you is blatant. Best to note the number of the player and when the time presents itself, make your statement count in an unambiguous and clear manner.

Agree, Doocy is not Jake Tapper. He comes away from this even with more stature, not less.
How many times did Trump publicly and crudely insult Yamiche Alcindor or Jim Acosta when they asked a question? Suck it up, Doocey, and stop being a Karen.
I thought that too at first. He seemed almost giddy that Biden had called him personally. Peter almost seems milqutoast in his attitude at times but he’s a good kid. He’s still quite young and has a long way to go before he’s seasoned but maybe he’s smarter than we all give him credit for. I have a feeling that being as he was so gracious in his acceptance of the “apology” Biden will feel somewhere in his ‘soul’ that he needs to be bigger than this young upstart and will not only call on him more in the future but actively seek him out. Those are the times when Doocey is going to drive the stakes through his heart.
Yamiche Alcindor essentially accused Trump of being a racist, and he responds that it's a racist question. That wasn't the most elegant or effective response, but it wasn't inappropriate or any more insulting than the question was. Biden crossed a line that Trump didn't. Biden can say it wasn't personal as a way of dismissing the whole controversy, but it was personal in a way that Trump's comments weren't.

The best thing for Doocy to do after his limp reaction to Biden’s ‘nothing personal pal’ bullsh*t is to hit him with a doozy the next chance he gets.
Maybe something about the 31 million dollar salary the Chicoms have paid the Bidens. Then follow the question up with ‘nothing personal pal’.
I agree totally with the writer’s sentiment and analysis.
They are not mutually exclusive. Doocey could have had a pleasant conversation and requested a public apology. Then when asked about his conversation instead of revealing it verbatim should have said that it was confidential. That way Peter comes off as "the big man", get's the publicity of having everyone know the President called him and yet he does the right and just thing by requesting a more public apology. Clearly Brandon won this battle, he abused him, didn't apologize and gave Psaki the ability to make him look like he apologized and was the bigger man.
