And Col. Trautman in “First Blood” with Sly Stallone.
One of my favorite TV shows when I was a kid. That and “The Honeymooners,” “Dobie Gillis,” and, of course, “Maverick.”
Ah, yes; “The Bob Cummings Show,” aka “Love That Bob.”
“Think of of Walter Denton as the skipper of the San Pablo in The Sand Pebbles.”
Good movie. One of Steve McQueen’s best roles. When he first boards the San Pablo, and goes below to the engine room, he says, “Hello, engine. My name is Jake Holman.” Classic!
And that was back in the day when Candace Bergen was truly a looker.
I went to the link of this article and saw the picture of the cast for “Our Miss Brooks”. I’d forgotten Richard Crenna was in that show. Then, a couple of years later, he played Luke McCoy, alongside Walter Brennan and Kathleen Nolan in “The Real McCoys.” That was a great show too. Looking at the cast for “The Real McCoys”, there’s some great names there. Even Nancy Kulp and Irene Ryan made an appearance before they ended up on “The Beverly Hillbillies.”
RIP.
Older than my mom. Gives an idea how she would’ve been back then.
Two different shows.
“Two different shows.”
Nope. Same show. Same cast.
From Wikipedia:
“The Bob Cummings Show (also known as Love That Bob) is an American sitcom starring Bob Cummings, which was broadcast from January 2, 1955, to September 15, 1959.[1] The Bob Cummings Show was the first series to debut as a midseason replacement.[citation needed]
The program began with a half-season run on NBC, then ran for two full seasons on CBS, and returned to NBC for its final two seasons. The program was later rerun on ABC daytime and then syndicated under the title Love That Bob. A similar (but less successful) follow-up series, The New Bob Cummings Show, was broadcast on CBS during the 1961–62 television season.”
There was also The Robert Cummings Show in about 1960. Did you forget about that one, there is the confusion.

Never heard of it. What’s more, there is no record of any such show. There was a show in 1961 called “The New Bob Cummings Show,” but there is no record at all of anything on TV called “The Robert Cummings Show.”
It was only on one season 1961 to 1962. He played a pilot who was a private detective, he had one of the original flying car models that were made. It was a cool show.

Lot of confusion on the names.
