Where is the proof? Where is the study, with the data, proving specious declaration? I am so angry about this that I want to write the NFL asking for documentation. But I’d bet my last dollar that they’re just spewing something believing no one will challenge it and so if they repeat it enough people will believe it as fact.
The alternative is they say this based upon some garbage left-wing “study” with worthless data. I get angry every time they play that because you just intuitively know that’s just flat-out false.
I’ll tell you where they get that number. The same way they come up with the claim that females make 70% of what males do for the same work. You compare apples to oranges.
You start with the average starting salary of white college grads from all schools, which include the Ivy League and other prestigious universities. Many of those will have stem or business degrees. A larger percentage will go into higher paying jobs in business management, engineering, finance, and the like. You might include Asians in this too for good measure.
Then you compare that number to the average salary of black graduates, which will include a lot of state schools and historically black colleges. Many of these will include ethnic studies, PE majors, or other fields that don’t pay as much. Their starting jobs will have a higher proportion of teaching and coaching jobs, or positions outside their major study area because they can’t find any jobs.
There won’t be a comparison of majors, GPA, or quality of the schools. Hell they might even lump in advanced degrees too which probably skews more toward whites. In any case I guarantee that any black grad from the same school with the same major with the same experience and the same GPA will get paid MORE than a white grad for the same position.
