He wrote this song in 1955 and the record was released in 1956. A classic of the fifties doo-wop genre.
Loved that song, still do.
60 plus years later and I still remember that song/night/events:)
It puts a smile in my heart.
RIP.
Thanks for the history on the Penguins. I never knew what happened.
I was at a fifties show in Jersey one time and they seemed to have everybody but the Penguins, so I told one of the guys running the show I missed them. Voila. Right near me in NYC they appear! But then I read the program notes, and that was all it said, that there were no original members.
That is gorgeous.
Brings back memories.
Didn’t he broadcast from Mexico, where he could take advantage of the different broadcast regulations in order to be heard all over the Southwest?
Amazing how the zeitgeist has changed. If we brought back those sentiments somehow we would all be better off.
Ya got that right, firebrand!
He was on XERB for a while. That's just over the border from San Diego. I never heard the Wolfman on that station, but in 1972, I did hear him on the Armed Forces Network when I was living in Germany. Everyone thought he was black, but he was actually Irish-American.
Ha! Thanks! Never saw this video. They are even cooler now than before.
Had never seen it either. I receive a weekly e-mail newsletter on Mondays & that video was part of it...
