Truck Driver Carry [Gun Law Breakdown]
Can truck drivers carry a gun? What is the gun law related to interstate transportation of a firearm? Is there a federal port authority? The Armed Attorneys break down the gun law related to truckers carrying a firearm in the vehicle when traveling over the road.
Is there a federal law that prohibits truckers from carrying a personal firearm in their truck? NO.Are there state laws that prohibit truckers from carrying a personal firearm in their truck? YES.
Which states? An exercise left for the viewer.
All in all not a very helpful video.
I’ve sold a lot of compact 12 ga shotguns to long-haul truckers over the decades. They’ve all told me that’s the best choice because a shotgun is they only thing they could carry in every town and all 50 states. Even NYC.
Back in the 90’s when the dirty windshield scam was common they all told me that all they had to do when a scammer showed up was show the muzzle above the door window sill——and their windows stayed clean.
“ Are there state laws that prohibit truckers from carrying a personal firearm in their truck? YES.”
One could possibly argue that the sleeping area of the truck is actually a residence so different laws would apply.
What is truly needed is nationwide reciprocity/Constitutional carry, and prosecution of any officials who would deny us of our rights plainly spelled out in the Constitution
Truckers should stop going to states that probibit their having a protective firearm (these are probably the worst of the worst crime states). When enough people starve then the problem will fix itsself.
With a full choke.
Didn’t watch the video, and I don’t know about other states, but the commies in Colorado got rid of preemption last year.
So, gun laws here are now varied statewide, sadly.
Again. Has this been challenged anywhere?
They should go for some sort of blanket “their truck cab is their home” nation wide exception.
That could translate into a car owner, inside your own car/ dwelling exception.
I think it is a compelling case.
Which will do you zero good in the very same states that refuse to recognize your home state's CCW License. All the usual suspects; New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, California, etc., will not buy the "the truck is my home" argument. The states that would buy that argument are also most likely to be the states that either currently recognize your home state's CCW, or are a Constitutional Carry state.

THIS X1000!
Good video, thanks for posting!
Knew a trucker who would carry their gun in their duffle bag, their story to the cops would be that the wife loaded it without asking him what state he was going to that week.
I don’t think there’s been a case that’s come up to challenge them yet.
Back when, before CCW was really a thing, my dad, who was a CO State Trooper, told me that a firearm in your glove box was the same as in your night stand. Then we got consistent laws state wide and CCW became popular. Now we are back where we started.
I understand that some states don’t allow having accessible firearms in a vehicle. CO had good, sensible laws but now we’ve gone backwards, due to vote fraud I would argue.
And I agree with you, penguin.
> their story to the cops would be that the wife loaded it without asking him what state he was going to that week <
Which probably no anti-2A cop or anti-2A judge would buy.
Even MA is better than that. You must have it under your control. If its not, it has to be unloaded and locked.
And if you want to get shot by a State Cop in MA, put a firearm in your glove box with the registration.
There are plenty of other places you can put it.
The Northeast coastal states (MD, DE, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA) are a contiguous no-go zone
Funny how the well connected wealthy, the elite, those in government as well as celebrities are able to legally carry guns or simply hire guns and to defend themselves.
That's what 2A was supposed to do.
Nevertheless, agreed.
