The problem with a full quarter overtime is that it does not work for play-offs.

Having been to the ‘71 six quarter game, I suggest that in the regular season you settle for a tie at four quarters and record it that way. It will make teams “go for it” in the end of the fourth quarter. Then, in play off games, you add a full 15 minute quarter. If tied at the end of the fifth quarter, you continue the game based upon who is entitled to the ball at the end of the fifth quarter and it is sudden death from the opening of the sixth quarter.

The only people that won’t like it are the bookies and sports betting sites.
