There’s precedent for that:
It happened to a friend of my granddaughter. He died in a motorcycle crash and his corpse tested positive for Covid, so it was listed as a covid death.
Way back in May of 2020 I penned a fake headline (I believe right here on FR):
Man beheaded in horrific motorcycle accident dies of Covid.
