I used to have a three hour round trip commute. One of the things I enjoyed listening to was NPR, but it was for comic relief. They sound all “quiet, thoughtful and serios”, but their actual words and positions are idiotic. Comically so.

I listen to NPR often while driving my children to school. It’s a good opportunity to teach a healthy skepticism of ‘news.’ I get to ask questions like, ‘they called it an insurrection, but can one really take over a government by entering a building?’ or ‘they said X and Y then Z, while X is probably true they just assumed Y with no backup - even so would Z follow?’

That 3 hour commute reminder me of one of NPR’s shows dealing with illegal immigration. They compared one chicken processing plant that hired illegals and another that didn’t that paid about the same wage (according to NPR), thus “proving” that illegals didn’t drive down wages. The problem was that they were only 25 minutes apart, thus well within the same labor market. They intentionally ignored the chance that wages were already depressed by the illegals. But they did it with the serious NPR voice so it sounded reasonable.
