Truth is truth.

Yes, I actually went to a “Yanni” concert about 12 years ago. Mrs LS dragged me.

One of the most awesome concerts I’ve ever attended. Every single one of his players was a KILLER. I even heard a HARPIST rock out!

Of course he made his speech about how he has “people from all over the world” in his band-—and I thought, “You hypocrite. You’d fire every one of them if they weren’t the very best player you could find, no matter what color they were.”

My wife and I also attended a Yanni concert around the same time. We already enjoyed his music on CD, but live was astounding and an experience. We also have his Live At The Acropolis and Tribute DVDs. I often wondered why he doesn't compose movie soundtracks.

The reason many didn't give him a listen is that he was grouped in the airy New Age genre. Yes, he has many slow tunes that would qualify as New Age like Enya and others, but when he gets up tempo with his full orchestration, he is a force. I enjoy him to this day, and I'm a classic rock guy.
