“you’re not getting any of the benefits of magnesium when taken in the form of oxide.”
Not exactly true.
All forms of magnesium and other minerals and vitamins are provided to give the amount stated. Some forms have other benefits, and any chelated form of a mineral is expected to be better absorbed in all situations, but the non-chelated can be expected to be fully absorbed under ideal circumstances (good stomach acid, proper bacterial colonies in the gut, etc.).
Anyone taking magnesium oxide is nearly guaranteed to get the majority of the magnesium into their bodies.
not to my understanding. Only 4% of mag oxide gets absorbed. that’s why you get major diarrhea when you take even small amounts of that form.
Even you stated to avoid oxide; I’m guessing you said that for some reason.
