Harsh as this sounds, don’t be selfish. Being a great and loving dog, the dog deserves a great and loving owner. When it’s time, you know it’s time, and step up to be your dog’s loving guardian and hero.

Every story i hear of prolonging a dog’s life, to the point of incontinence usually, i have to remind that as a sentient being, an especially good dog is ashamed, embarrassed, mortified, to soil himself and crap himself inside a house. Do not think you are making the dog happy.

When it’s time, you know what to do. And yes we are praying for you. Be the dog’s hero. We will all grieve with you. But it’s the right thing to do.

Exactly my thoughts on that. A dog can’t follow doctors orders and I believe that it will feel that all of the pain is because of something they did. Most people don’t even think about that. At the end of a dog’s life I do wonder what taking extreme measures will also to the dog’s comfort. One has to ask themselves are they being compassionate or selfish.
