That’s a stat I haven’t seen. I would say that’s roughly about how my conservative acquaintances break down on the issue of vaccines.

Thank you!

This one is at 56% conservatives/Republicans are vaccinated. I have seen 60+or -% in other polls. The conservative vaccinations are going up albeit slowly but going up.

Thank you for the link. Many guesses in the article about why the number of conservatives getting vaccinated has gone up, but I wonder what the actual reasons are.

I saw a friend yesterday who spent Christmas in Mexico and got Covid, as did her husband. They went to a local pharmacy and got, over the counter, “the protocol”… ivermectin, hydroxy chloroquine and a zinc mixture. Over it in 5 days, feeling great. She is now obsessed with therapeutics instead of vaccines and is telling everyone how Fauci did the same thing during aids and was responsible for thousands of unnecessary deaths. The Pfizer therapeutic, she said, is just ivermectin remixed and the study that showed ivermectin as toxic overdosed the recommended level.

You know what is odd, I personally know zero people who have died of COVID. And I know a lot of people. I don’t personally know anyone who has been hospitalized either.

Almost the same here. I had my grandmother and a couple uncles hit the hospital then home care a couple months ago, but otherwise the only person I know who died in the past year was Grandpa, and he was just old. Think he was one of the 1% of old people whose death didn't get attributed to CoViD!

To be sure, a number of the fatalities I noted were friends of close friends or friends of close relatives. And my wife has a huge family (Catholic Filipina), but none of the losses were in the immediate family. A couple in Philippines might not have happened in the US. Unlike some here, in the last several years I’ve been “in the room” with close relatives this far || from the reaper (flu caused pneumonia, Dad, and a brother, and aspiration-ulcer caused pneumonia, Dad), and have a pretty good idea what extraordinary lengths our doctors and health care workers will go to, and the means they have, to save someone who has any chance. (Yes, both my Dad and my brother were on ventilators — they’d have not survived an hour or 2 without.) Anyway, while all those COVID fatalities were grievous of course, the impact to me was not that of, say, when my Mom passed. (Not COVID) Probably the one (Covid fatality) that bothered me the most was my best friend’s Dad — sort of a role model for me — passing: It was very hard on my friend’s family as that was early in the pandemic and they were not able to see him (as my friend’s Dad was in a nursing home and there was NO visiting.) 2nd worst might have been the 2 doctors, a husband-wife couple who lived not even 200 ft. from my wife’s cousin who’d raised her (my wife) and who (cousin) also helped out a lot with my Mom and to this day video chats with my wife almost daily. The couple were terrific people who did a lot of extra work in their community — a great loss, even if it was mostly to people I don’t know.

To address your point, though, obviously FR is as “political” as it gets, and the government choosing mandates and compulsion over effective, competent education, particularly in such a “personal” area, has made many already properly suspicious of gov’t into outright enemies — not of the country, but of the political order.

I’ve not run into any blocking of my posts, but I do realize that playing it with as little bias as I can is not popular with most posters around here. (My background and work requires quite a lot in the way of NOT allowing subjective biases, even subtle, to creep into my observations — in a way I’ve had nearly 50 years of training for this.)

I think it is also important to ask lots of questions - REAL questions, not just rhetorical questions. One can discern quite a bit about posters when they rarely ask genuine questions...

OT: I figure I’ll be lucky to go to my grave having learned 1/10th of what I would have liked (even including stuff forgotten along the way!). But, then I probably never had over 1/20th the capacity to absorb it all anyway.

(From Babylon 5 — memory / paraphrasal)

Sheridan (just B4 passing, wistfully): There is still so much I don’t understand...

Lorien (reassuring): As it should be.

You can’t possibly be serious.

Instead of responding to me listing 5 people who I know of that died FROM COVID in response to the constant drumbeat here of “no-one, I mean NO-ONE dies FROM COVID”, you’re actually saying the 5 people that I know in fact did indeed die, and did indeed die FROM COVID is somehow not “admissable”? Seriously?

Yes, all 5 people died, and they died FROM COVID. Yes, I knew them either directly or indirectly. And to your question about the guy posting to FB as he died - he was the son of my Dad’s former boss. We used to hang together as kids.

I didn’t realize we were required to give personal details or signed affidavits in scenarios like this in order to convince the naysayers who keep (wrongly) repeating the tired mantra of “but, but, but, NO-ONE dies FROM COVID except the weak, feeble, old and people with a gazillion co-morbidities!!”.

Sigh..

She woke up, and they took out the breathing tube. Her name is Sara. That was Wednesday the 19th. Thursday AM, the nurses went in to check on her, one side of her face is now drooping. The doctors say she had a massive stroke, and it will be a permanent malady.

#1 Has nobody told the doctors that the problem with Covid is not glass lung pneumonia. It is not about lack of Oxygen. It is because of blood clots between the lungs and the heart. You treat with blood thinners.

#2 How can you know what is permanent without taking a brain scan, which they haven’t done yet?

People PLEASE know what this disease is all about. What the treatments are, about the blood clots being the cause of low blood levels of O-2, not that there is a lack of air in the lungs. NO Remdesivir, Blood thinners are usually a first line treatment, and DEMAND monoclonal antibodies, Ivermectin, Vitamin C intravenous, and Zinc. This disease is curable...CURABLE, if you ignore what the Standard of Care is for most hospitals, the recovery rate is a lot higher than the 3% they get with intubation and Remdesivir.
