The Golden State Warriors issued a statement regarding owner Chamath Palihapitiya’s controversial comments on Uyghur genocide in China.
“Let’s be honest, nobody cares about what’s happening to the Uyghurs. You bring it up because you care and I think it’s nice that you care. The rest of us don’t care,” Palihapitiya said Saturday on a podcast that he co-hosts called “All In.” “I’m telling you a very hard, ugly truth. Of all the things that I care about, it is below my line.”
“I think that human rights in the United States is way more important to me than human rights anywhere else on the globe. And I think that we have an abysmal track record of taking care of colored men and women in this country, and so I have zero patience and tolerance for white men blathering on about shit that happens outside your own backyard,” Palihapitiya added.
“Fix your own inside backyard because you guys are the ones … you are uniquely in a position of power in a way the rest of us are not. And so when you guys clean up the inside then we can go and fix the outside,” Palihapitiya concluded.
On Monday, the Warriors responded to his comments on the podcast in a statement that read “As a limited investor who has no day-to-day operating functions with the Warriors, Mr. Palihapitiya does not speak on behalf of our franchise, and his views certainly don’t reflect those of our organization.”
Palihapitiya then responded on Twitter to clarify his words in the following statement.
“Important issues deserve nuanced discussions. Some clarifying comments: In re-listening to this week’s podcast, I recognize that I come across as lacking empathy. I acknowledge that entirely. As a refugee, my family fled a country with its own set of human rights issues so this is something that is very much a part of my lived experience. To be clear, my belief if that human rights matter, whether in China, the United States, or elsewhere. Full stop.”
“We are a woke establishment and you'd expect us to give a dang about rights on everything from frogs to pedophiles, except when talking about China, because we believe anything China says and wants to do trumps all.”
Nig@as in the US kill each other, while Chinese in Red China kill and enslave millions.
Talk about blind to reality. YOU NBA players are the slaves of the Chinese. You cannot criticize them, so by default you are their Nig@-rs......
Sounds like a False Choice on his part. He can’t care about black people and Uyghurs simultaneously and equally? Would he doing so irritate China?
That statement is strangely familiar to a statement from China recently.
Chamath Palihapitiya is a Democrat, so the lack of empathy is not surprising. Check out his political donations.

Notice the woke Warrior organization did not announce that this wealthy guy should be cancelled by forcing him to divest his limited partnership. Face it. His comments reflect the real opinions and policies of the Warriors and the NBA. They know the future value of teams, the league and their brand depend on them exploiting the China market. The NBA has more rabid fans in China than the United States. Soon Chinese businessmen will be buying NBA franchises.
The Nets are owned by a Taiwan-born Canadian, but he speaks as if he were a mainlander. He bought it from a Russian national.
“Let’s be honest, nobody cares about what’s happening to the Uyghurs.”
I’ll bet he speaks for all Democrats.
“Palihapitiya” pulled his pants down and shiete on humanity.
This worthless knob now panders and ends up penny-less and dead. Yet, real everyday human beings will exit and dump anything related to him.
He thought he was so so smart! Truth is he is a dead man, sooner or later!
BIG democrap
Full stop? He is more like “full of shit”.
Nice trophy wife too!
This guy deserves a backhanded prop for at least being honest. The rest of them in the NBA are of the same mind, but don’t have the stones to make their positions known.
The NBA is in thrall to Red China and will do nothing to upset its masters in Beijing.
I believe this man is Canadian. At least he grew up there and was educated there. I would suggest deportation; however, Meritless Garland I’m sure would disagree.
