and it’s a shame that they’re starting to film with smoking again.“”
I thought the apparent ban on smoking was stupid especially considering the deviance and immorality they replaced it with which they have no qualms about showing. Slightly more annoying now though is the seemingly CONSTANT smoking replete with fake inhaling and self conscious clumsy holding of the cigarette. I can tell if the actor is a real life smoker by the way they hold and handle the cigarette. Most are too aware of the cigarette in their hand. That aside they do over do it now. A few days ago, watching some movie or other, some actress clumsily fired up the films eight billionth cigarette and I actually said out loud “Ah geez give it a rest.”
I know what you mean. I’m a lifelong non-smoker, but to me it also seems obvious if an actor/actress is a “real” smoker or not. One of the worst examples I can recall was Keri Russell in “The Americans.” Okay, as a Russian in the ‘80s, not unreasonable for the character to be a smoker, I guess, but Keri just didn’t have it down. She almost invariably looked like the most awkward 10th grader to whom someone had a handed a cigarette at a party. Not exactly what one would expect of a middle-aged KGB operative/assassin.
I don’t want my kids seeing smoking normalized.
