Horrible situation. We’ve been lucky so far. No problems. I have 3 cats...2 of which are 15-18# so food and litter are needed frequently. Hope your situation improves.
Thanks. I have 2. They will be 10 years old in a March.
I’ve been hoping pets aren’t going hungry, the shelves at Walmart here are pretty bare.
Both my cat and dog don’t eat commercial pet food, because of various allergies. I’ve been making their food for quite a while and it’s not that difficult. I’d be happy to post the recipe, and you can have it just in case you can’t find food for them. And it’s bound to be better for them.
I created this based on catinfo.org, but changed it up since Cotton, my problem child, had grain allergies, struvite crystals, and random allergies to every type of food off and on. This one, she could tolerate. I was worried she was missing crucial parts of needed nutrition, but she’s over 16, outliving her siblings that ate store-bought cat food. Her blood work is amazing for her age (according to her vet).
Her meat of choice is chicken, cut into tiny pieces. I’d mix it up, freeze it in 1 oz portions, put those in a freezer bag, and unthaw a couple at a time. It was quite easy once we got into the routine. ps. the B vitamins taste icky. I could never find ones that didn’t.
I would mix up the fat I’d add - she really liked bacon grease best.
