Northern NV, spot shortages. Run on paper goods again, missing large quantity packages of just about everything. Otherwise mostly stocked so far but thinly with no depth. A failure of JIT supply chain would kill us in 2 days.

I’ve not seen Claim Jumper pies or Tombstone pizzas in about 2 years.

I’m in an alternative food supply chain ... Amish/Mennonite “salvage” groceries. Supplies are good because big store employees are always dropping a pallet, cutting too far with the box cutter or stuff gets too close to the sell-by date :D

Like shopping in Russia, you never know what you will find, and if they’ve got what you want, buy it now because it might not be back.

They carry a couple of Amish brand foods that are good ... Walnut Creek is one and John F. Martin meats. Our local store carries milk from a local start-up dairy in returnable glass bottles. We can also buy from local butcher shops.

Wish everybody had these options.

I’m noticing that the seed companies I usually order from have fewer varieties than normal, and the ones they have are selling out faster than in pre-covid years.

Can’t find “Elfe” potatoes anywhere!!!

A good barometer at least for MA would be this chain, whose flyer could be a model for others: https://www.shopmarketbasket.com/weekly-flyer Much less in selections than last summer, and higher prices, yet praise God that in His mercy and grace we are still so blessed despite our sins.

"What are you seeing in your area? "

The frozen potatoes section at my Wal-Mart was almost empty today.
Is it the same reason they don't have French fries in Japan?

Guess Whose Coming to Dinner?

Somehow, I have to believe that the addition of a million or more consumers , that have been imported into the country, who have been added to the population , has some impact on food supplies.

Wonder how many grocery chains factored the new consumers in their planning.

In W Phoenix, Walmart can be pretty serendipitous. Dog and cat food run out on a regular basis.Ramen Noodle shelf is nearly always empty.

The big thing ! Prices have sky rocketed . A small tray of dog food from 77 cents to a dollar eight. Similar increases throughout the store

Have seen evidence of 1 & 2 at the local Wally World. Frozen potatoes are available but the shelves are half empty, and packaged lunch meat is mostly ham and turkey products (the usual beefs and salamis are scarce).
