People here rip on President Trump for not “draining the swamp”. And some of it is well deserved.

But I sincerely believe that he was blindsided by the length, breadth, and depth of it. Maybe if his supposed friends and supporters in Congress had supported him things would have turned out differently. But they didn’t. In fact most of the openly colluded to stop the man.

No one person alone could have done it in a lifetime, let alone in just four years. Trump was betrayed by people he trusted in the House, the Senate, and amongst his own hires. Is a great deal of that his own fault? Youbectha.

He should have told McConnell and Graham to go stuff it when they gave him lists of “confirmeable” nominees. And he should have fired the entire senior leadership of every Department, Agency, and Bureau on Day 1.

But he didn’t. And that’s on him.

But he accomplished quite a bit in spite of opposition that would have utterly destroyed lesser men. And the dichotomy between his Presidency and this brain dead loser now occupying the Oval Office are is plainly evident to the American people.

I have little to no faith in the American public. I’m sure some realize that their life is a little worse than it was under Trump, but hey, no mean tweets, and the media isn’t telling them the world is coming to an end every single evening.

I agree, Trump’s hiring decisions were his Achilles heel. I do think that part of the issue was where Trump came from, business. In business, you hire, if they don’t work out, you fire and get someone else. But, government isn’t as easy to negotiate. Every hire or fire is news, and upsets some allies somewhere. And yes, politics is chock full of back biting serpents. I agree, Trump seemed to underestimate that part of being in office.
