My will lists 3 charities in the order of preference to send my golden retriever if something were to happen to my spouse and me together. Oh yeah, a nice monetary donation from our estate goes with the dog to hopefully ensure her care.
People that have pets should always consider leaving some assets to their local shelters or to an animal charity of their choice...if you have children that turned out on the left; give THEIR inheritance to the animals. :-)
That is an excellent idea, Sheila. I just sent your idea to my wife so we can consider that. We’ve got a young Golden Doodle our adult kids all love (they are all on their own), a medium age cat (7 years) but he is somewhat aloof (but he loves our son), and a very geriatric kitty who is in obvious pain now (at 14 years). I keep expecting Geriatric Cat to croak one night, but she keeps going.
I have 25 acres, have owned 2 golden retrievers (1 smart as a whip, 1 dumb but lovable). I can send you my address depending on how much the dog gets. My old Sheppard gets home cooked meals every night. He’s really getting old.
