IIRC there are rules about insurance and over-insuring an individual. Each of the agents who wrote the policies should lose their licenses as well
I've never heard that. (Because I know nothing about life insurance.)

A million is not that much. Pay off the house, cars and college education for 3 kids and not much if any will be left over
