There is nothing in existence like bringing someone back from the brink of death by CPR. I held a 2 year old girl in my arms in shoulder deep water performing CPR and saw the light come back into her eyes.

Everything else in life pales before that memory. The dead look in the eyes before CPR and the light returning. Praise God.

A life changing experience for more than the little girl you saved, I'm sure. It is a worthwhile skill to learn. I still carry the card for my certification training but pray I will never have to use it.

Icy water does slow the body metabolism enough to save lives which may otherwise be lost at normal temperatures. This is the Denver area. When I lived in Fargo, we had a case of a little boy who was underwater for over 10 minutes and rescued with no brain damage. It took him longer to recover from the hypothermia.
