“People on the range next to me would step back and look over at what was being shot.”
I’ve had that happen to me, but I was shooting a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle. And I do not recommend the DE for self defense.
Even Superman was afraid of a .22 gun being thrown at him!
(Don't know if that was a .22, but the graphic is still funny)
Model 48
I have a LCR in 22 WMR and pair it with a Savage A22 Mag semi-auto rifle. Cheap to shoot pair.
Likewise, for more serious carry or situations, I have a Kimber K6S DASA 4” Combat revolver chambered for 357 Mag or 38 Special. I am saving up for a carbine in that caliber to have a long/handgun pair for more serious work.
My 9mm small concealable is a S&W M&P Shield but revolver operation is more instinctive and managable due to medical issues the last couple of years.
I have been instructing in firearms, including CCW for over 20 years.
I carry the Taurus 22 Mag because of arthritis in my hands, but because it has so little recoil, I can get off three rounds in the time it took me to get off one in .38 special.
Hey, if you look carefully at your post, even that bad guy actor knows not to point a prop gun directly at another person. (He’s smarter than your average Alec Baldwin)
When I was a young man I watched a guy on drugs keep coming against a baseball bat, hit after hit after hit and still chased the guy with the bat across the parking lot. It made me realize how hard it really can be to stop a human with intentions to harm you. If you are going to fire body mass, there is a minimum of energy mass needed to stop someone. Now if you think you are good enough to aim for and hit them in the forehead a 22 might be enough, good luck. Aiming body mass it will most likely not be enough to stop someone drug crazed and feeling no pain.
Having a gun is always better than not having a gun.
Hitting the target with smaller round is better than missing with a larger round.
And, with a pistol, it is really about placement anyway.
If the persons likes the revolver in that caliber and shoots it well, then they should carry it.
See #29... :)
Same, bought it before the P365 came out.
I have a nice little H&R 22 LR, 9 shot cylinder load that I bought about 25 years ago. Great fun for shooting and also a accurate little piece.
“If you are going to fire body mass, there is a minimum of energy mass needed to stop someone.”
Which no bullet has.
Energy = mass x velocity^2
Momentum (mass x velocity) is conserved.
Bye-bye eardrums; otherwise fine.

Ooh...PMR30...30 rounds...nice. Videos I’ve seen make it look like you’re shooting a Gatling gun.
LOL. Yes. For Kodiak Grizz and polar bears I would pack a Casull or a 500 S&W. Better yet I’d sling a 12 gauge pump with sabot slugs. For 2 legged varmints I pack an LC9S pro. A .22 mag would end most fights though.
Larger caliber is more likely to address a threats forward “momentum”
Said another way: go big or go home.
