There’s a lot of literature I read as a kid that was “distressing”.

I survived.

I read a lot of literature ended up with a literature degree, then teaching lit. I was Jane Eyre as an adult. Brontë’s portrayals are tear jerkers. Just great. Many pertinent themes, layering, virtue vs evil. All applicable to contemporary life decision making. The purpose of literature. Which is why it’s still around.

Last week my cousins and sisters talked me into watching an episode of Yellowstone. I knew it would be raunchy but thought let’s
See what these girls are filling their leftist heads with

If anyone wants to talk about distressing but not talking about contemporary Mimi series, they are full of soup.

It took me three days to drop the distress

Yellowstone is dynasty (which I’ve seen one episode of) with porn and explicit violence and murder. The acting is so stiff it’s like a progressive commercial. The story line is absent and the themes are completely non existent. It is a waste of any amount of time spent viewing, including ads for it.

That these people are not targeting this is telling.

When my kids were young I did not put any garbage in my head and didn’t have it on in the house for them to overhear or come across.

This kind of crap separates kids from parents. That’s a bigger problem.

Jane Eyre is a treasure. That’s all
