Sinead O’Connor has paid tribute to her son Shane, who she called the "very light of my life" following his tragic death aged 17.
The Irish singer-songwriter said in a moving tribute on Twitter that her "beautiful" son Shane had "decided to end his earthly struggle and is now with God".
She said he was the "very light of my life".
"May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example," the message read.
"My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace."
The 55-year-old had tweeted during the search for her son, who was reported missing on Thursday.
A huge police search was launched in a bid to find Shane, who was last seen in Tallaght, South Dublin, on Friday.
Police confirmed the sad news of the teenager’s death.
A spokesman told The Sun: “Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday, 7th January 2022, a Missing Person Appeal in respect of Shane O’Connor, 17 years, has been stood down.”

The numbers don’t add up. I noticed that - he should have been 15 at the time of the article.
I always remember this woman as being very unstable. I don’t recall any of her music, but whenever I see her name the first thing that comes to mind is that she’s mentally ill.

I am saddened for Sinead. She’s bonkers and has brought a lot of scorn on herself, but I think she’s sincere and only misguided, not the Hollywood type whose hatred of the Pope comes from a hatred of someone telling them they shouldn’t be partying with the Weinsteins.
I went to her concert with friends with free tickets, and in front of a crown of thousands, after probably hundreds of such concerts, her songs still felt like someone reading her diary to you.

My sympathies to the family. No loving parent is ever ready for their child to go before they do. I have heard that loss something you learn to live with, but never quite get over.
Sinead family, as she defines it as about zero in common with my family and the stability I grew up with, but they are the who she cares about in her own unusual way.
It’s hard to have a decent life when you’re born to a mother as nuts as his.
IMO, “mom” killed the kid just as sure as if she put a bullet in his head.
A young man needs “stability” more than anything and “mom” gave him just the opposite.
That poor kid never had a chance.

It is indeed tragic. That poor boy must have suffered so much. It is a shame that so many unstable people bring innocent life into the world.
I bet he never breast fed. Just a guess.
Kids today view suicide as a temporary fix to a problem. They talk about it constantly. They see no hope for the future, blaming White Nationalists and Global Climate Change. Reddit is eat up with it.
Add to that an obsession with “mental health” and a desire for a cocktail of drugs to deal with it, both prescribed and illicit.
