A new law has the owner of an emotional support pig crying wee wee wee at home.
A 100-pound potbelly pig has become the subject of a criminal investigation and longtime scrutiny in the upstate New York village of Canajoharie, where owner Wyverne Flatt, 54, has been harboring the porker as new legislation determined the emotional support animal couldn’t be legally kept in his home.
But Flatt — who is readying for criminal trial with risk of prison time and $18,000 in civil fines to defend his supposedly soothing swine named Ellie — says that the town’s new laws against keeping farm or domesticated animals are just a bunch of hogwash.

If this man chooses to live with a pig within his own home, that is his business. However if he expects people to make public accommodations ( on airplanes etc.) for his peculiar emotional need, then he is being unreasonable. Wonder if he watched The Beverly Hillbillies a bit too much, had a crush on Elly May and her critters.
Frankly I am tired of the “support” animals everywhere. Your dog, or whatever needs to stay at home if you can’t leave it in the car.

Sounds like an unconstitutional Bill of Attainder here. I hope this guy wins his eventual Federal lawsuit against the douchebags who run this little corner of the Third Reich.

Animals can be classified more than just one way. This local government apparently is too stupid to understand that fact.
My aunt had a pet pig that would be let in to parts of their house, mainly the first floor. When he was small where he went wasnt an issue, bit when he was bigger it was just the first floor.
Overreach by government. We need laws to string up officials for this crap. At least a few days so the lesson won’t be forgotten.

I saw a dog once that someone brought into a public building once that was wearing a caution sign that said it was part wolf, if I recall correctly. Not sure if it was an emotional support dog or not. These days, owners seem to feel pretty free to bring their dogs into public buildings.
When I was a kid on the farm our pigs were named Pork and Chop. With those allusions our parents were assured that my four siblings and I would have no illusions.
Actually, by the time the bacon cured we had forgotten where it came from and the hams and shoulders just came from the freezer.
I think you just took on the entire dog loving world. As is widely said in DC, if you want a friend get a dog.
Any law that's passed with the intention of being retroactive or targeting a specific person is un-Constitutional.
When the US Constitution was taught in High School (back in the stone age when I went) we all learned that. It's stuck with me since.
Like I said....we all use them as emotional support animals, which is why the whole business is kind of a joke.
We’re talking about two *entirely* different issues.
