IMPRESSIVE! I had no idea that an avalanche could create such a blast of air in front of it. It had to be composed of a massive amount snow.

Anybody check to see if the ocean is 10 ft. higher?

Frikking crazy people. But hey, they probably live around there and are more used to it.
The rainbow was pretty bitchin, though!

I was on a climbing expedition on Cho Oyu from the Tibet side during the post monsoon season. The avalanches were frequent and thunderous, but often I could not even see where they were. I also observed the same in the Alps. Not so much avalanches, but more rock fall in the Colorado Rockies. You hear it, but in the vastness, can’t see it.

Yup- when I used to live in the Idaho mountains, and now where I live in coastal Alaska, there's a couple seasons of 'thunder' in spring- an earlier one of avalanches, and a later one of rockfalls. Kinda cool. Back in central Idaho (Sawtooth Mountains country) I heard some monster avalanches from 20 miles away. If you got a good warm spell right after a heavy snow at the right time of year you could hear booming sounds every few minutes for a day or two. Was like the background sound effects for a WWII movie or something (artillery in the distance).

Often it is the blast of air that blows down trees or tears a building apart - before the snow hits.
