Media: ‘Drivers are starving’...OMG, LOL!!! Hungry? Perhaps. Starving??? Not even close. Water? Plenty of it everywhere. Just melt the damn snow. Didn’t their great-god government hand out ‘go-bags’?
Biden is promising to send everyone 4 free snow ties, just waiting on the contract to be signed, should be in the mail by June to everyone.
Here in Louisiana when the interstate is closed due to an accident, the interstate is blocked off and traffic is rerouted so there is no helpless accumulation of cars. Just basic common sense.
will an EV battery last for 15 hours with the engine running for heat?
Recently, VDOT repaved a 2-lane road. They painted the double yellow line down the middle. THEN, a week later, they put a rumble strip down the middle which destroyed the double yellow line so then they had to paint it AGAIN.
They’ve also recently installed a sign near a stream that floods which says “TURN AROUND DON’T DROWN. ROAD FLOODED WHEN FLASHING”
Except there’s no flashers. They didn’t install the equipment for that, just the sign.
Just two examples of VDOT incompetence. I think everyone who works there must be high or drunk, or just plain stupid.
After a blizzard/Snowstorm, Leftists need a sign in their car rear window, “DNR”.
Tell them it means Democrat Never Republican!
LOL, if we had snow in FLA, the population would be less than it is. It does snow rarely, but mostly on the north boundaries. We even get freezing weather. Most of us down here permanently, bring out the old parkas when it reaches 60 degrees. Its the new freezing temperature down here.
Yes. In Ohio we call it “March weather.”
I’d go with ‘stupid’... :-)
Global warming I guess.
, their snow removal plan was called Sun.
….which takes patience and good humor, both of which are typical of people in the South.
Impatient people, well they just rush ahead and get stuck in a ditch, ….and then complain.
Government financial mismanagement for decades

Poorly designed and overburdened infrastructure

Insufficient and under-skilled staff

Non-thinking drivers

Drivers stuck in cars for hours on an unplowed highway, or drivers abandoning their cars
Virginia DOT needed to plow the road or close it. No government employee will suffer any consequences for this fiasco.
My God...twelve hours without food? The horror!
Gee how does that Tesla work out for you when you are stranded in a snow storm?
Some moron on facebook (but I repeat myself) said that the reason VDOT failed here is that they have (1) too many roads to maintain and (2) because of COVID.
Except this was on I-95, not some back roads. I'd bet VDOT was waiting for word of Federal reimbursement before directing the plows.
We can. Just ask Jay Inslee. It is 'climate change'.
The earth is warming. Here in Washington, East of the Cascade Mountains, we have been locking in below freezing weather for a couple of weeks. And yesterday, I and my neighbor cleared our driveways of 6.5 inches of snow. Not a lot by some standards, but for where we are that is a good amount.
Virginia hates to spend state money on anything. They much prefer to suck at the Federal trough.
Here’s a hint from a life-long Southerner. Don’t travel during a snow storm in the South. It will go badly. There is always a guy in a Jetta who thinks he can climb up a mountain and a guy in a huge truck who thinks he has 4 wheel stop.
Bureaucracy
